Reporting is an essential tool in monitoring the integration of transport, environment and health at the local, national and international levels. Regular reporting mechanisms established by countries at the national and local levels, as well as by regional and international institutions could assist in assessing the progress made within THE integration and could help in adjusting and planning further actions aimed at sustainable transport.

Well designed indicators help considerably in such a reporting process by highlighting problematic trends and by measuring progress in achieving environmental and health policy objectives. The establishment of harmonized sets of indicators on the integration of transport, environment and health at the national and international levels are important to ensure comparability of data across the pan-European region. On the basis of national reports, the analysis, integration and production of regional, sub-regional and pan-European reviews and assessments is an important contribution to the monitoring mechanism for the integration of transport, environment and health policies. The EEA TERM indicators and the WHO environment and health indicators can be used for such reporting or for the development/compilation of a specific THE indicators.
