Implementation

At its first session (Geneva, 10-11 April 2003), THE PEP Steering Committee endorsed the project and agreed on a phased implementation. The Committee also established a Task Force to provide guidance on methodological aspects of the indicators, define a core set of indicators, extend the geographical scope of such indicators to cover the pan-European region, develop new indicators as knowledge becomes available and establish a network of technical focal points.

The Steering Committee at its second session (Geneva, 29-30 March 2004) considered the interim report on progress achieved and invited Member States to submit information to the secretariat about their national experiences on the integration of THE indicators and their use in policy-making. It also recommended that future developments in this project leverage on ongoing work, particularly within the WHO and the EC-EEA.
